K Is For KONGOS
*Originally released July 21st 2014*
This episode, Doug and Steve take a look at the career of the South African brothers known as KONGOS. The fellas also chat about iTunes, the dynamics of being an opening act, and busy tour schedules. Also, what\'s the story with that first album anyway?
Music featured this week:
Another Daydream - KONGOS
Come With Me Now - Lunatic
I\'m Only Joking - Lunatic
6:33 - To read more about the 2014 Polaris Music prize, click here!
14:50 - Interestingly, this still seems to be the case. The KONGOS site contains almost no reference to their first album.
35:58 - The Imperial in Vancouver was one of Steve\'s favourite venues, if only for the aesthetic. It looked like a dive in the slums, but inside had a cool Asian fusion design and great acoustics. Sadly it closed down in late 2022 due to damage and safety concerns.
46:45 - We actually did wind up covering Moby, albeit years later. Check out our episode M Is For Moby!
Doug\'s Recommendations:
Nothing - KONGOS
Hey I Don\'t Know - Lunatic
Escape - Lunatic
Steve\'s Recommendations:
Sex On The Radio - Lunatic
I Want To Know - Lunatic
