L Is For Linkin Park
*Originally released July 28th 2014*
This episode, Steve and Doug talk about the massively successful Linkin Park, trendsetters in the nu-metal scene that was so-often imitated. This of course means chatting about the rock music scene in the late 90\'s, Transformers soundtracks, and how to preserve your identity while pushing the boundaries of your creativity. All while touring.
Music featured this week:
One Step Closer - Hybrid Theory
Faint - Meteora
What I\'ve Done - Minutes To Midnight
Pts.OF.Athrty - Reanimation
2:32 - Here\'s Weird Al desperately trying to explain Internet marketing and partnership to Fox\'s Stuart Varney.
6:55 - We took that request to heart and did indeed do an episode, G Is For Great Speckled Bird!
22:25 - Of course! Korn\'s \"Freak On A Leash\" was a huge hit in 1999. And Limp Bizkit had released a couple albums in the mid to late 90\'s.
25:45 - Steve is referring to Vancouver\'s rock radio station CFOX 99.3 FM, The Fox.
27:43 - Hybrid Theory actually hit #1 again on iTunes and Amazon\'s charts in July of 2017, after Chester Bennington died.
28:23 - Linkin Park\'s placement on the list of best-selling debut albums depends on the article you read, and when the article was written. This article lists it at #2, but this one lists it at #10, just for example.
39:35 - Here\'s the archive of Linkin Park\'s tours since they started. At the time of writing, they\'ve had over 1200 live performances, and the cluster in their early years is intimidating.
1:08:26 - We go into Our Lady Peace far more in depth with our episode, O Is For Our Lady Peace!
1:13:52 - Check out this link to Fuse\'s story on Chester\'s view of music festivals.
